Clara Green

Clara Green is an indoor plant enthusiast based in Vancouver, Canada, where she grows a collection of tropical houseplants with a particular focus on philodendrons and other aroids.

Her interest in houseplants began several years ago after realizing how differently many tropical plants behave once they are moved from greenhouses into ordinary homes. What started as a small collection gradually turned into a long-term experiment in understanding how plants adapt to real indoor environments.

Growing Philodendrons Indoors

Over time, philodendrons became the plants Clara grew the most.

Their diversity, resilience, and wide range of leaf shapes made them particularly interesting to observe. Some varieties grow as climbing vines, others stay compact and upright, and many respond differently to changes in light, watering patterns, and soil structure.

Because of this, much of Clara’s plant collection now revolves around philodendrons.

The articles on this site document these ongoing observations — from successful growing methods to common problems that appear when plants adjust to indoor conditions.

Indoor Growing in Vancouver

Clara grows most of her plants indoors in Vancouver’s Pacific Northwest climate, where the environment presents unique challenges for tropical plants.

Winters are long, cloudy, and rainy, and natural sunlight can be limited for several months of the year. During the heating season, indoor humidity levels can also fluctuate significantly.

Over the years, Clara has experimented with different approaches to adapt tropical plants to these conditions, including:

• adjusting watering routines throughout the seasons
• testing different soil mixes for aroids
• using grow lights during darker months
• maintaining stable humidity levels indoors

Many of the plant care guides on this site are based on lessons learned from these experiments.

Philosophy

Clara believes that growing houseplants is less about perfection and more about observation and patience.

Plants often take time to adapt, and many problems that appear suddenly are actually the result of gradual environmental changes.

Instead of focusing on idealized care instructions, the goal of this blog is to share practical insights from real growing experiences — including the small adjustments that help plants stay healthy over time.

On This Website

Clara writes the content on this website as a personal record of indoor plant growing experiences.

The site focuses primarily on:

• philodendron plant care
• indoor growing challenges
• seasonal changes in plant growth
• common plant problems and solutions

New observations and lessons from ongoing plant care experiments are regularly added to the site.
