About This Blog
This blog is a personal project focused on growing philodendrons indoors.
Many plant care guides online focus on ideal greenhouse conditions, but most people grow their plants in ordinary homes where light, humidity, and temperature change throughout the year. The goal of this site is to document what actually happens when philodendrons are grown indoors over time.
Here you’ll find observations from real growing conditions — including how plants respond to seasonal light changes, indoor heating, watering routines, and different soil mixes.
Instead of repeating generic care advice, the articles on this site focus on practical lessons learned through trial and error.
Why This Site Focuses on Philodendrons
Philodendrons are one of the most diverse groups of indoor tropical plants.
Some varieties grow as climbing vines, others stay compact and upright, and their leaf shapes and colors can vary dramatically from one species to another. Over time they also proved to be among the most adaptable plants for indoor environments.
After experimenting with different aroids over the years, philodendrons gradually became the plants that performed the most consistently indoors. That curiosity eventually turned into a deeper interest in understanding how different varieties behave under real home conditions.
This blog grew out of those observations.
Growing Plants in a Pacific Northwest Climate
This site is written from the perspective of indoor growing in Vancouver, Canada, where the climate brings long rainy winters and relatively mild summers.
Natural light can drop significantly during the colder months, and indoor heating can make humidity levels less stable than many people expect. Because of this, growing tropical plants indoors often requires small adjustments throughout the year.
Many of the guides on this site explore how philodendrons respond to these seasonal changes and how small changes in light, watering, or soil structure can affect plant health.
